Mac Miller likes to let his music do the talking, and even with his debut independent album, Blue Slide Park, a few months from release, he is remaining tight-lipped. On Wednesday (August 17), the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, MC tweeted, "Tomorrow at 6pm. THE FIRST SINGLE IS COMING OUT!" Then, when he appeared on MTV's "RapFix Live" later in the day, host Sway was able to pry just a little more information from the 19-year-old MC.
"It's called 'Frick Park Market' ... produced by ID Labs," said the 2011 MTV Jams Fab 5 inductee after some interrogation from Sway. ID Labs is a Pittsburgh production team that consists of E. Dan and Big Jerm and has produced songs like Mac's "Best Day Ever" and Wiz Khalifa's "The Race."
"Frick Park Market" borrows its title from a local Pittsburgh deli known for its homemade sandwiches. "Man, it's just the jam. It's just the jam, that's all I can say. The video is about to be crazy. You're gonna see a whole new side of me," Mac said. "I can't describe it. I'll say that we worked our asses off making this video and spent two 17-hour days just doing nothing but filming and working and setting up shop. I wanted to make sure there was nothing more I could've done."
The album's title also pays homage to Mac's hometown. "Blue Slide Park is a park in Pittsburgh we grew up at," Miller told MTV News of the title's significance. "Being 2 going down slides and then being 6 playing Little League and hanging out there, then being older coming back there to drink and smoke and party, running from the cops. And now going back there just to chill out and drink a beer."
